On November 5th, the first precast box girder, weighing 1,700 tons, was successfully set onto the piers of the country's first cross-sea bridge for suburban (intercity) railways, under the direction of the on-site commander. This feat was achieved with the support of Juli Sling's state-of-the-art hoisting equipment.
The bridge's offshore installation involves placing 66 precast box girders, each 60 meters long and 10.6 meters wide, and weighing around 1,700 tons. Combined with the hoisting equipment's 280 tons, the total lift reaches 1,980 tons. This project features the largest and heaviest prestressed concrete precast box girders in the nation’s suburban railway projects.
Spanning Xiangshan Harbor, the bridge faces challenges such as deep waters, strong winds, and tides, creating a complex environment. The bridge deck stands about 52 meters above the sea, equivalent to a 20-story building, and is close to the Xiangshan Harbor Highway Bridge, demanding precise operations from the hoisting equipment in limited space.
The Juli project team, in collaboration with the project department, conducted thorough technical research and evaluations. They utilized advanced hoisting technology and developed detailed lifting plans and safety measures for the challenging environment. This led to the creation of the country's first Large-span Sling Automatic Locking Device. Unlike traditional systems, this innovative device provides precise control, significantly reducing the effects of wind and waves during lifting.
