8×K19 Compacted Strand Steel Wire Rope

Short Description:

Compacted Strand Wire Rope is designed for demanding, high-performance applications that require a combination of strength, durability, and flexibility. It is widely used in industries like construction, mining, maritime, and heavy machinery.

Product Detail

8×K19 Compacted Strand Steel Wire Rope

The 8×K19 Compacted Strand Steel Wire Rope is engineered for demanding lifting, hoisting, and traction applications where strength, durability and precision are critical. Featuring eight outer strands each with 19 individual wires, the rope undergoes a specialized compaction process—compressing the wires tightly to reduce internal voids and enhance metallic density. This advanced construction delivers superior performance compared to conventional wire ropes.

Key Features

  • Compacted Structure
The compaction process significantly increases the steel content per cross-section and smooths the outer surface, reducing internal friction and improving wear performance.

  • Higher Load Capacity
Thanks to the dense construction, the rope can endure greater breaking and working loads for a given diameter, making it ideal for large-scale cranes, offshore rigs and heavy-load hoisting systems.

  • Improved Wear & Fatigue Resistance
The compacted wires resist abrasion and bending fatigue better than non-compacted ropes, resulting in longer service life in harsh, high-cycle environments.

  • Maintained Flexibility and Smooth Operation
Despite its high strength, the rope retains flexibility and excellent spooling behaviour, ensuring smooth performance on drums, sheaves and multi-layer winding applications.

Construction & Specifications

  • Construction: 8×K19 – Eight strands, each comprised of 19 wires, in a compacted format.

  • Available Grades: Typical tensile strength classes include 1570, 1670, 1770, 1870 MPa, etc.

  • Diameter Range: Customized nominal diameters (e.g., 20 mm – 60 mm or wider) to suit specific application needs.

  • Finish & Core Options: Available in bright (un-galvanised) or galvanised finish; core options such as fibre core (FC) or independent wire rope core (IWRC) for different service conditions.

Typical Applications

This rope is ideal for heavy-duty usage scenarios including:

  • Tower cranes, vessel cranes, mobile cranes and gantry cranes where high strength and long service life are essential.

  • Offshore and marine hoisting systems, drilling rigs, deep-hoist operations and multi-layer drum setups.

  • Heavy industrial lifting, mining and port handling equipment where durability and wear resistance are critical.
